How do I create a MySQL database?

Use the MySQL Database Wizard in cPanel: it creates the database, the user and the permissions in one go.

  1. In cPanel, open Databases → MySQL Database Wizard.
  2. Name the database. cPanel adds your account prefix, so the full name looks like account_shop.
  3. Create a database user with a strong password.
  4. Tick ALL PRIVILEGES and click Next Step.
  5. Use the full database name, full username, password and host localhost in your application’s settings.

Tip: The one-click installers (WordPress and others) create the database for you. You only need this for applications you upload yourself.
