Create an FTP account in cPanel, then connect with a program such as FileZilla using your domain as the host, port 21 and explicit TLS.
Create the FTP account
- In cPanel, open Files → FTP Accounts.
- Enter a login name and a strong password. Set the Directory to the folder this account may use (for the main site,
public_html). - Click Create FTP Account. The full username looks like
[email protected].
Connect from FileZilla
| Host | ftp.yourdomain.com (or the server name in your welcome email) |
|---|---|
| Protocol | FTP, with Require explicit FTP over TLS |
| Port | 21 |
| Username | The full FTP username, e.g. [email protected] |
Tip: Plain, unencrypted FTP sends your password in clear text. Always choose the TLS option.
