Never shake a baby

For many people, shaking a baby is an effective way to make him stop crying. But what they do not know is that it can damage the baby.  Since a baby’s muscles are not yet fully developed, and they still have a weak neck which makes it hard for them to fully support their heads and their brain tissue is exceptionally fragile, shaking a baby for only a few seconds can cause lifetime injuries. Vigorously shaking a baby causes a sudden whiplash motion that can cause bleeding, swelling and bruising in the baby’s head and it increases pressure on the brain and that pressure will cause it to pull apart. This will cause a baby what is medically known as Shaken Baby Syndrome. Some symptoms  include poor eating habits, vomiting, seizures, difficulties in keeping awake and paralysis among others. These may not be seen on the child’s physical appearance but over time you may see changes in health or behavior. And parents might at first think that the baby is having flu or a viral illness.

Note that gently bouncing a baby on your knee or minor falls do not cause the syndrome. But even brief vigorous shaking may cause Shaken Baby Syndrome and a large percent of babies with the syndrome die. Those that do not die may require lifetime medical attentions. When you suspect that your baby has this syndrome, you must seek medical attention quickly to prevent major damages.Shaken baby syndrome is preventable. Help is available for parents who are at risk of harming a child. Parents also can educate other caregivers about the dangers of shaken baby syndrome.

Nothing Is Wasted From Cows

After hundreds of kilograms of meat  are taken from a cow, what happens to rest of the cow? Some of the internal organs such as pancreas, ovaries and gallbladder among others are used to make  medicines. Shocking right? Do you have any idea what is used to make your favorite lotion? Collagen that is extracted from cow bones, hides and hooves is used to make lotions and moisturizers. Things like gristle and fat are used to make components like butyl stearate and glycol which are used in many makeups and hair products. Some types of soap are also made from animal fat including cow fat. Many food items that are written “fat free” contain gelatin which is taken from grounded hooves and bones. Other parts of the cow end up in a long array of products such as floor waxes, crayons, photographic paper, weed killers and cellphones.

Musical Impact on Memory

A research conducted on children showed that children with music training develop far better memory and vocabulary than children that have no such training. Music training enhances cognitive skills beyond those that are specific to the domain of music. It is said that studying music stimulates the left side of the brain, improving the overall brain function and and permitting the brain to do better other tasks like the verbal learning. Children with musical learning can recall significantly more words than the untrained children. The longer these children continue with their music training, the better their verbal learning performance is. Most of those who study music find it easier when learning at school. So if you want your child to have a good memory, you must make them have music training at an early stage in life.

Surgeons Watch What You Say

Surgeons
Surgeons in surgery

Patients undergoing surgery are able to hear even though they are under general anesthesia. Even after 24 hours after the surgery, they can recall words that were said only once during their operation. Since these patients can “listen in” during their operations, they are very sensible to to negative or insulting remarks related to them that were said. This will have an effect on their recovery rate. So beware what you say in front of a patient.

When To See A Judge

Judge’s hammer

Many judges pride themselves for not being influenced by other people during their rulings. That might be true, but is there anything that can influence their judgement that is not fact and the law? Irrelevant factors can. One study conducted on judges from Israel found that in the work sessions following the judge’s lunch and snack breaks, favorable rulings gradually went from about 65 percent to nearly zero. But then they abruptly returned to 65 percent after the next break. So we can conclude that rulings are not sorely based on fact and law but on variables that should have no bearings on legal decisions. If you want your case to be ruled in your favor, know the time for the judge’s second break and visit then.

Does The  Sun Really Rise From The East

We have known since we were born that the sun rises from the east and sets n the west. But is not really the case. Its only for two days per year that the sun really rises from the East and sets on the West. The sun ruses and sets on the east and west only when our circular part n on Earth splits into 2 equal parts with one part being night and the other being daylight. As the Earth tilts at 23.5 degrees in respect to its orbital plane, it only rises and sets due east and west during the spring and fall equinoxes.

During an equinox, the plane separating Earth’s day and night sides contains both the North and South Poles. On any days other than the equinoxes, this plane is askew, and our circular path of rotation passes unequally through Earth’s lit and dark sides. Therefore, the lengths of night and day vary, as does the position of the Sun’s rise and set on the horizon.
